Every Climate Data Point Is a Story Being Lived
Change Narrative LLC is a social impact enterprise building capacity in the climate justice movement through the power of our stories.
With a deep experience in narrative strategy, Change Narrative facilitates processes that help everyday people craft impactful first-person narratives, building confidence to talk about climate change, equipping storytellers to share their experiences effectively, stepping into the agency of their own voice to drive change —through public speaking, legislative testimony, media, and creative platforms.
Our Approach
While information is essential, it is not enough on its own to shift behaviors. Our stories have the power to humanize data—bringing it to life in resonant ways. By pairing the head (information) with the heart (emotion and vulnerability), we can more effectively spark and sustain action toward solutions.
Change Narrative believes in the power of unlikely alliances. The most powerful collaborations, like stories shared, are fostered by “unlikely alliances”: scientists and Indigenous elders, researchers and climate-aware therapists, policy experts and playwrights, lawyers and youth, technical experts and farmers, engineers and musicians. By pairing first-person stories with a variety of solutions, we build a more robust, intersectional, and holistic understanding of climate change — and what works best for communities.
Embodying a deep value for relationships, Change Narrative seeks to uphold the understanding that everything good comes from being in right relationship, and the work blossoms from there. Trust is built through “micro moments” of reciprocity observed during the process of collaboration, not in the outcome.
Our Commitment
Change Narrative is committed to shifting dominant and damaging narratives in mainstream climate communications by including the voices of everyday people and centering stories typically excluded from critical discussions and decision-making on climate change, especially those experiencing a disproportionate burden of impacts.
Amplifying first-person stories often excluded from policy, media, and institutional spaces through mainstream channels is an essential tactic bolstering civic participation, strengthening democracy, and advancing solutions grounded in identity, culture, place-based knowledge, and visions of a better world.
